The summit and Japanese pearls

Ise-Shima summit will be held this week.

Ise-Shima, Mie prefecture is famous for pearls.

Pearl pins will be given to the visiting heads of state, and that there is an island in the prefecture named Pearl Island.

The island, which is not far from the summit venue, is a Mie native by the name of Kokichi Mikimoto became a successful pearl farmer.

Mikimoto is a perl brand and has a famous building at Ginza, Tokyo.

Kokichi Mikimoto was known as Pearl King.

Natural pearls are hard to come by.

You can harvest only several from 10000 Akoya pearl oysters.

But Mikimoto began farming  those oysters, and by 1893.

he had succeeded in cultivating half-sphere pearls.

Twelve years later, he managed to cultivate spherical pearls.

Japanse people had really weard pearls except celemonial occasions.

But in these days, young women wear pearls with jeans.

Pearl is not only elegant item but also fashionable item.
